Key points: Theses on Urban Planners

This article gives us a pretty well rounded view on Urban Planners. It is clearly a very important role that is sometimes under valued. A lot of time and effort goes into Urban Planning, yet there is little recognition for this effort.

One of the greatest strengths of Urban Planners can also be there weakness. This is their comprehensive approach to urban development.

Below are some of the common points in the Theses on Urban Planners:

  • Urban Planners have several roles to play such as; analysts, advisers, designers and managers.

  • They influence peoples perceptions but they are not the final decision makers.

  •  Planners are objective in analysis of facts, patterns and trends of the modern day.

  • They are appreciated by very few, and blamed by many. They draw power though from networking and alliances.

  • Urban Planners must love and have a board knowledge of the city or area they are planning in order to improve it and give the community what they are after.

  • Planners must be motivated, passionate, courageous, honest, patient and above all, they must truly want to improve the living conditions of the city or area.

  • Politics plans a huge part in Urban City Planning.

What are your thoughts on Urban Planners? Do these points above run true in your opinion?
